MTR Rewind: My Take Radio Episode 107- Dr. David Reiss

dmr face

Dr. David Reiss was my guest for our 107th episode . Dr. Reiss is a practicing psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience, specializing in adult and adolescent psychiatric care. Dr. Reiss’s visit was not to commit me or to stage an intervention, but to discuss the mental side of professional wrestling. We covered so many different aspects of the wrestling persona that even the most knowledgeable fan will be left in awe over the amount of creative and mental energy required to create a successful persona. Dr. Reiss gave us his opinion on the deaths of both Chris Benoit and Chris Kanyon; an opinion with such a different perspective that, when heard, will allow fans to see that various triggers can influence (and in some cases cause irreparable damage) to even the strongest athletes.  I am extremely grateful that Dr. Reiss stopped by and gave the listeners a glimpse into this seldom discussed aspect of pro wrestling.

Dr. Reiss also does work with the Cauliflower Alley Club educating wrestlers not only in the psychology of athlete/fan interactions but also in the psychological reactions of fan to heels, babyfaces and turns. You see some of the work he’s done on his official site.
